Kilroe, Terry. Terry Kilroe was created by Will McMorrow (James Rossey, Venusians) and appeared in four stories in Argosy in 1933, beginning with “The Job at Station Twelve” (Argosy, Feb. 11, 1933).

Terry Kilroe is an efficiency expert and one half of Jenks & Kilroe, Industrial Engineers. The “withered, prim” Jenks is the senior partner and the one who handles the paperwork. The “lean, tall” Kilroe is the one who works undercover, curing sick businesses: “his is the job of the expert diagnostician, the trouble-shooter, the minute-man, called in to combat waste and carelessness and crooked dealing and the vagaries of human nature. He does not think in digits.” Inevitably Kilroe finds crime and corruption as well as inefficiency.
