Kid Orange. Kid Orange was created by Richard Martinsen and appeared in “Kid Orange of Kaintuck” (Action Stories, Aug. 1924) and “Knights of the Golden Circle” (Action Stories, Sept 1924).

In the 1920s Kid Orange is a “slender, keen-eyed indomitable old gentleman,” but “back in the stirring ‘50s and ‘60s was a virile, vivid figure on the Pacific coast.” In his younger years he made and lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, in a variety of ways, in San Francisco, London, and Wall Street. He struck gold in Sierras in 1915. At age 17, in Mazatlan, he has $60,000 in a bank in San Francisco, owns a trading schooner, and frequents the best parties. As a young man he ran away from college to have adventures across the American west. He is energetic, a skirt-chaser, proud, reckless, and insouciant, and has a lean, tanned face.
