Jones, Unofficial. Unofficial Jones was created by Lee Fredericks (Pierre Barodin, Mister Wong) and appeared in four stories in Exciting Detective from 1940 to 1943, beginning with “Yellow Death” (Exciting Detective, Nov. 1940).

Unofficial Jones is a “Puerto Rican Indian member of the United States Secret Service.” Jones “broke all track records while attending college in the United States” and then graduated to become a counter-espionage agent. He is a “descendant of the last of the Cacaques of Puerto Rico, the fierce Carib kings who gave the Spaniards stiff resistance when the Castilian conquerors discovered the island.” Among his enemies are Axis agents who create a secret air field within striking distance of the Panama Canal.
