Japanese Doctor. The Japanese Doctor appeared in a Japanese kamishibai (stories for children told by wandering performers) in the 1930s.

The Japanese Doctor is a Mad Scientist. He is an expert in transplants, and when a mortally wounded man stumbles on to his doorstep, the Doctor is ready to help him. Of course, the Doctor’s version of help is to transplant the heart of a gorilla into the wounded man, which results in the transplant recipient transforming into a monster who drinks the blood of animals and humans and goes on a rampage while clad only in a peasant’s straw winter coat.
