Jampulinkam. Jampulinkam (1907?-1930) was a Tamil peasant of the Natar caste in Tirunelvi District in southern India who stopped a Muslim from raping a Tamil, was punished for it, and became a bandit and Robin Hood-style folk hero. In the late 1920s a series of Indian Celebrity Pulp ballads were sung about Jampulinkam, making him into a Gentleman Bandit who robbed rich merchants and the police to help poor Tamils.
