Jack. Jack was created by Walter Woods and Ben F. Wilson and appeared in the film serial The Brass Bullet (1918).

Jack is an adventurous do-gooder who is wrongly committed to an insane asylum. He breaks out so that he can save his sweetheart Rosalind from her wicked uncle Gilbert. Rosalind, you see, is the heir to Pleasure Island in the South Seas, which Gilbert wants because of the massive amount of gold hidden there. On the one hand, Gilbert has SCIENCE! devices to assist him, including a “magnetic bug.” On the other hand, Jack and Rosalind have the help of the mysterious “Mystery Man.” Good eventually triumphs over evil.
