Irons, Andy. Andy Irons was created by William F. Bragg (Dakota Dan, Flash Moran, Dave Starr, Silver Jack Steele) and appeared in a number of stories in Wild West Weekly in 1940, beginning with “Ride on, Cowboy!” (Wild West Weekly, Sept. 14, 1940).

Andy Irons is a wandering cowboy who is spurred to revenge when his long-time partner, Ed Payton, is “shot down like a yellow dog.” But Irons is set up to kill an innocent man, and when he does kill the true murderer he also wins the love of Terry, the daughter of the man Irons would have killed. After that, Irons has various adventures in the Wyoming high country. Irons is lean and lanky and has “gimlet gray eyes.”
