Huang Ying. Huang Ying was created by the Chinese author Xiao Ping and appeared in a number of stories in Chinese newspapers and magazines and a number of Chinese films from the late 1940s through the early 1960s, beginning with "Nu feizei Huang Ying" (Lanpishu, 1948-1949).
Huang Ying is a Chinese female Lupin who is active in Shanghai before the start of the Sino-Japanese War. She is an excellent burglar, but she is also sentimental and righteous, being similar to Lu Ping but not nearly as cynical. Her softer side leads her to solve a variety of crimes in and around Shanghai. Huang Ying is very intelligent and usually solves crimes through deduction, but she is also capable of skilled violence when necessary, which is often necessary on her cases.
