Huang, Mr. Mr. Huang was created by the Chinese author Xu Dishan and appeared in “Tieyu de Sai” (1941).

Mr. Huang is a poor Chinese inventor who creates a technologically advanced submarine. Part of the submarine is a set of iron gills which people can use to work underwater for days on end. Unfortunately, the government is not interested in either the submarine or the gills, despite the war with Japan, and when the Japanese army draws near Huang has to flee. But while on the ship Huang accidentally drops the box containing the gills, and it sinks, never to be found again.
