Howard, Russell. Russell Howard was created by the Australian author A.E. Jobson and appeared in twelve short stories which were collected in The Adventures of Russell Howard (1909).

Russell Howard is a Great Detective.

...that alert brain of his; a brain that he was constantly pitted against the cleverest men of all countries, and which seldom failed in an encounter. His was an unique profession. He half humorously spoke of himself as an adjuster of other people's affairs, but in reality he was ready to accept a commission to deal with any matter requiring delicate handling, and which was beyond the ordinary man's capacity to pull through.

He is Australian, and several of his cases take place in Australia, but others take him to varied locations around the world, including London, where he takes on crooked English noblemen and a Femme Fatale.
