Horn, Henry. Henry Horn was created by Dwight V. Swain and appeared in three stories in Fantastic Adventures and Amazing Stories in 1942, beginning with “Henry Horn’s Racing Ray” (Fantastic Adventures, Feb. 1942).

Henry Horn is an Unlucky Inventor. Horn is the nervous and very high-strung partner of the acerbic Professor Paulsen (who calls Horn “my intellectual atom” and other such niceties) who decides to defeat the Axis by creating the most powerful bomb in the world, despite previous attempts at invention (an anti-ragweed radio wave that only kills peonies, a death ray that merely sterilizes guinea pigs, and so on) having gone awry. Horn’s invention does nothing, but Paulsen creates a fast-hardening smoke which helps them capture Japanese spies.
