Hoosier Hawk. The Hoosier Hawk was created by James Francis Dwyer (Jack Cameron, Red O’Neill, Texan Wasp, Vidaut) and appeared in five stories in Collier’s in 1930, beginning with “The Hoosier Hawk” (Collier’s, June 28, 1930).

The Hoosier Hawk is Richard Clefeld Pride, an aviator adventurer active across Europe, fighting for right against evil. He is “a tall, well-built man of splendid bearing” who is mistaken for royalty wherever he goes. He is a “careless adventurer” from Indianapolis who served bravely in World War One. He is faithfully assisted by his wartime mechanic, Penguin Murphy.
