Honk and Horace. Honk and Horace were created by Emmet Harte and appeared in nineteen comic strips and stories from 1910 to 1931, beginning with “Valhalla in the Hills” (Railroad Man’s Magazine, June 1910).
Honk and Horace are a pair of wandering rogues who use the railway to travel around the U.S. They are grandiloquent, boastful adventurers and ne’er-do-wells who have a sentimental side and help others when they feel like it.
