Hong Xiaoyuan. Hong Xiaoyuan was created by “Zhu Zhenmu,” the pseudonym of the Chinese author Zhu Zhenyuan, and appeared in Longxiao Huning (c. 1935).

Hong Xiaoyuan is a Nüxia/Wüxia. Hong and the army of the Taping Tianguo work with a group of martial artists to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and restore the Ming Dynasty to power. However, conflict between the martial artists and Hong Xiaoyuan comes to a head when Hong refuses to accept their advice. The martial artists leave and Hong and the rebel army are defeated.
