Holmes, Shirley. Shirley Holmes was created by Frederic Arnold Kummer (Richard Duvall, Honeymoon Detectives, Octavius, Judge Tyson) and Basil Mitchell and appeared in a play and two short stories in Mystery in 1933, beginning with the play The Holmeses of Baker Street.
Shirley Holmes is a Great Detective modeled on Sherlock Holmes. Shirley is a Canadian grandniece of Sherlock and is “a tall, slim girl of nineteen.” She is Watsoned by Joan Watson, Dr. Watson’s daughter.
