Holmes, Shedlock. Shedlock Holmes was created by Ed Carey (Dolby) and appeared in two comic strips in the Pittsburgh Gazette in 1902, beginning with “Shedlock Holmes and Louisiana Raffles” (Pittsburgh Gazette, July 13, 1902).

Shedlock Holmes is a Great Detective. He is a Sherlock Holmes parody, and in his two stories he jousts with A.J. Raffles.
