Hodges, Gray. Gray Hodges was the creation of Guy C. Baker (Josiah Snook, Watts) and appeared in five stories in The Blue Book Magazine in 1911 and 1912, beginning with “The Shunned Place” (Blue Book Magazine, Nov. 1911).

Gray Hodges is a Great Detective. He lives in a bungalow in Maine and dislikes civilization, but when his thick-headed and easily-impressed Watsonian friend brings him cases, Hodges takes them on and uses his exceptional strength and wonderful mind for ratiocination to solve them. Hodges says things like “The Goddess of Luck is a careless jade.”
