Hazeltine, Pat. Pat Hazeltine was created by Leo Stalnaker and appeared in seven stories in The Shadow and Detective Tales in 1939 and 1940, beginning with “Eyes That Saw” (The Shadow, Mar. 1 1939).

Pat Hazeltine is a special investigator, appointed by a governor but serving under a “weak, incompetent D.A.” Hazeltine is big, freckled, belligerent, bellowing, smirking and cynical.
