Harris, Buck. Buck Harris was created by Edward Parrish Ware (Jack Calhoun, Battle McKim, Tug Norton) and appeared in twelve stories in Detective Fiction Weekly from 1930 to 1934, beginning with “Haggerty Knew His Eggs” (Detective Fiction Weekly, May 10, 1930).

Buck Harris is a Deputy U.S. Marshal active in the Arkansas Ozarks. He fights moonshiners and murderers, assisted by his deputy, Lem Hanley. Harris is short, heavy, careful, and hard-boiled.
