Hannasyde, Superintendent. Superintendent Hannasyde was created by Georgette Heyer (Inspector Hemingway) and appeared in four novels from 1935 to 1938, beginning with Death in the Stocks.

Superintendent Hannasyde is a What’s All This, Then. He is a Scotland Yard detective and is noticeably careful in his investigations. He is quiet, thorough, and no-nonsense. He is “a middle-aged man with hair slightly grizzled at the temples, and a square, good-humored face in which a pair of rather deep-set eyes showed a lurking twinkle behind their gravity.”
