Hammond, Ham. Ham Hammond was created by Stanley Weinbaum (Adaptive Ultimate, Tweel, Haskel van Manderpootz) and appeared in three stories in Astounding Stories in 1935, beginning with “Parasite Planet” (Astounding Stories, Feb. 1935).

In the future of 2100 Ham Hammond is an American trader who is trying to make a living on the nearly-inhospitable world of Venus. He meets the female biologist and scientist Pat Burlingame, and together they survive the hostile life forms of Venus and Uranus.
