Griddle, Scoop. Scoop Griddle was created by Thomas Polsky and appeared in Curtains for the Editor (1939), Curtains for the Judge (1939), and Curtains for the Copper (1941).
L.F. “Scoop” Griddle is a Bellem. He is the reporter and movie reviewer for the Citizen, and although he is a young playboy-about-town he is old school enough to type his stories in a bar because there’s no beer in the Citizen office. He is Watsoned by Pop Meriwether, wizened former editor of the Citizen and streetwise columnist. (Unfortunately, Pop is eventually revealed to be a murderer).
