Grey, Colwin. Colwin Grey was created by the Australian author Arthur J. Rees (David Colwyn, Crewe (I), Inspector Luckcraft) and appeared in a number of stories and four novels and story collections from 1925 to 1932, beginning with The Threshold of Fear.

Colwin Grey is a Great Detective modeled on Sexton Blake. He is English and used to be a solicitor before becoming a private detective. Grey has a pale face and is keen and “inscrutable, but with something indulgent and compassionate.” He investigates crimes in and around Cornwall, assisted by his chauffeur and leg-man, World War One veteran Richard Haldham. In Simon of Hangletree (1926) Inspector Luckcraft appears.
