Grellon. Grellon was created by J.D. Newsom (Curialo & Withers) and appeared in twelve stories in Adventure (U.S.) from 1928 to 1933, beginning with “The Gorilla of No. 4" (Adventure (U.S.), Jan. 1, 1928). Grellon is a Legionnaire. Sergeant Grellon is a hulking, brutish-looking man with only half an ear on his left side and no ear on the right. Although he dresses very sloppily, he is a stickler for discipline of the most violent and direct kind, and he spends enough successful years in the Legion, fighting against the Arabs, to rise to the rank of Captain. He is a fierce fighter and is very strong.
