Gregson, Cal. Cal Gregson was created by Archie Joscelyn and appeared in a number of stories in The Lone Ranger Magazine in 1937, beginning with “Gettin’ Cal’s Goat” (The Lone Ranger Magazine, June 1937).
Cal Gregson is a wandering cowboy who finds trouble in a number of places. He “has the look of a scared jackrabbit…sort uh flappin’ in the saddle on a knock-kneed cayuse, all hunched forward like he was tryin’ to push the horse, with a pair of big, bony hands holdin’ determined to the saddle-horn and his flappy ears sort uh lifted in anticipation, and he has a copious crop of red freckles.”
