Graven, Joe. Joe Graven was created by the Spanish author Fidel Prado (Two Pistols) and appeared in Aventuras del Inspector Joe Graven #1-3 (1940) and eleven short stories in a variety of magazines from 1940 to 1942.

Joe Graven is a handsome, refined inspector for Scotland Yard who solves a number of violent crimes. Graven’s first case takes place in Madrid, where he is called upon to recover a secret treaty between Spain and England which has disappeared. Graven is assisted by a brilliant doctor whose advice is valuable to Graven. Graven’s arch-enemy is Max Pogge.
