Gower, Royston. Royston Gower was created by Alec G. Pearson (El Caballero, Captain Montana, Stanley Dare, Doctor Duval, Frank Ferret, Dr. Messina, Dr. Nevada) and appeared in eight stories in a number of story papers from 1902 to 1906, beginning with “Curzon of the Carabineers” (The Boys’ Friend, Dec 28, 1901).

Royston Gower is a Great Detective who is described as the “cleverest detective in Europe.” He is assisted by Ruffles, a sixteen-year-old who is “a veritable sleuth hound” and does much of the legwork for Gower.
