Gomecillo & Peliculez. Gomecillo & Peliculez were a pair of popular Spanish comedians in the first years of the 20th century. In 1906 they were portrayed as the heroes of the Spanish Celebrity Pulp comic strip “Un Viaje Inferno” (Nuevo Mundo, 1906).

Created by “Karikato,” the pseudonym of Méndez Álvarez, the fictional Gomecillo & Peliculez are a pair of modern Spaniards who are, quite unwillingly, sent into a Hell which is modeled on Dante’s Inferno but which also incorporates modern elements, like newspaper reporters and contemporary celebrities.
