Gibson, Henry. Henry Gibson was created by Denis MacKail (Hugo Peak) and appeared in ten stories in 1922 and 1923, beginning with “The Invention of Professor Salt” (The Strand, Sept. 1922); the stories were collected in According to Gibson (1923).
Henry Gibson is a Tall Tale Teller. He is a regular at the Caviare Club and regales the other club members with stories of various foreign countries. He has a mysterious past, and despite being retired from his job of churning out stories for women’s magazines, has a mysterious past to which he occasionally alludes, which include a series of interesting jobs he supposedly worked at. Or perhaps he’s just a habitual liar.
