Furnival, Inspector. Inspector Furnival was created by Annie Haynes (Inspector Stoddart) and appeared in Abbey Court Murder (1923), The House in Charlton Crescent (1926), and The Crow’s Inn Tragedy (1927).

Inspector Furnival is an investigator for Scotland Yard. He is middle-aged with “a keen, foxy-looking face...and sharp grey eyes whose clearness of vision had earned him in the Force the sobriquet of ‘The Ferret.’” Furnival takes on both murderers and unusually intelligent criminal gangs.
