Franklin, Harry. Harry Franklin was created by Albert Otis and appeared in eight short stories in Pearson’s Magazine (U.S.) in 1916, beginning with “The Wise Guy” (Pearson’s Magazine (U.S.), Jan. 1916).
Harry Franklin is a Lupin. He is “a college man who had chosen the adventures of lawlessness in preference to any other career.” He enriches himself at others’ expense in America and Europe, assisted by the lovely Lily Dinan, a pretty French criminal who fell in love with Franklin and married him, and Red Bernheim, a “Broadway Jew” and Franklin’s accomplice. The trio use guile, disguise, and audacity to carry off their crimes.
