Fife, Gordon. Gordon Fife was created by Bob Moore (Don Dixon) and John Hales and appeared in the comic strip “Gordon Fife and the Boy King” (later “Gordon, Soldier of Fortune”) (1935-1941).
Gordon Fife is a well-traveled American soldier of fortune who ends up in the small Central European operetta kingdom of Kovnia, where he and his young Hindu sidekick Ali become the protectors of Nicolas, the child king of Kovnia, and Nicholas' older sister Caroline. (Caroline and Fife eventually fall in love). Fife helps keep Kovnia independent, despite the best efforts of Prince Karl of Livonia and the anarchist criminals the Markala.
