Farnsworth, Dr. Dr. Farnsworth was created by Francis Leo Golden and appeared in “The Testimony of Dr. Farnsworth” (Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, Jan. 1945) and “The Challenge to Dr. Farnsworth” (Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, July 1947).

Dr. Mark A Farnsworth works at Mercy Hospital in New York City, and lives in a home on Madison Avenue. He is “venerable,” with “long, blue jowls always so close shaven, the closely-cropped, gray mustache that set off admirably the light blue of his eyes.” He is clever, insightful, an excellent doctor and very good as an amateur detective, in which role he puts his medical knowledge to good use.
