The Eagle (III). The Eagle was created by “Kerry MacRoberts,” a pseudonym of Norman A. Daniels (The Black Bat (II), Scott Cameron, Candid Camera Kid, Dan Clark, Crimson Mask, John Doe (II), Dynamite Dolan, Stephen Duane, Masked Detective, Guy Peyton, Renouf, Skipper, Val Stewart), and appeared in five stories in Thrilling Spy Stories and Popular Detective from 1939 to 1940, beginning with “Storm Over the Americas” (Thrilling Spy Stories, Fall 1939).
The Eagle (III) is Jeff Shannon, a top agent of American Intelligence G-2. He is tall, slim, handsome, and quite capable, both at disguise and all forms of combat. He’s well traveled, cool under pressure, and willing to indulge in a variety of violent actions to achieve his goals. He fights agents of the Axis around the world, from Venezuela to Germany itself.
