Duncan, Marise. Marise Duncan was created by Dorothy Carter (Wren Helen) and appeared in six novels from 1939 to 1944, beginning with Mistress of the Air.
Marise Duncan is the daughter of an airline pilot, and Marise is determined to prove to everyone, her father included, that she is capable of doing anything she wants. She wins the King’s Cup air race and becomes an instructor at a flying school in one the suburban counties of London. From there she goes on to have a series of adventures, finding treasure, fighting Mexican bandits, and, during World War Two, fighting the Japanese, flying to Russia, and even operating in Germany itself.
