Drake, Dexter. Dexter Drake was created by Elsa Barker and appeared in ten short stories and three novels and story collections from 1925 to 1930, beginning with “The Mystery of Cabin 135” (Red Book Magazine, Dec. 1925).

Dexter Drake is a Superhuman private detective. Drake is an American detective who specializes in breaking codes. He lives in New York City and has superhumanly malleable features, similar to Hamilton Cleek. Ordinarily he is “a tall, slender, distinguished-looking man with the clothes and manner of a grand seigneur,” but can as needed completely and flawlessly change his personality and appearance. He is assisted by Paul Howard.
