Donnelly, Dapper. Dapper Donnelly was created by “Clay Starr,” the pseudonym of Charles M. Martin (Alamo Bowie, Gospel Cummings, Roaming Reynolds, Rawhide Runyan), and appeared in a dozen stories in Wild West Weekly from 1940 to 1943, beginning with “Dapper Donnelly—Six-Gun Doctor” (Wild West Weekly, Aug 10, 1940).
Dapper Donnelly is a 5’4”, well-dressed, traveling medicine show man, slick with his tongue, slicker with his hands, and slicker still with his guns.
