Djaja, Wan Teroena. Wan Teroena Djaja was created by “Aria Diningrat,” the pseudonym of the Indonesian author A. Damhoeri (Sir John), and appeared in a number of stories from 1939 to at least 1940, beginning with “Rahsia Kaloeng Moetiara” (Doenia Pengalaman, Feb. 1939).
Wan Teroena Djaja is a Great Detective. Known as the “Sherlock Holmes from Malaya,” Djaja is, like Sir John (to whom he is also compared) a member of the Singapore police force. He is based in Semenandjoeng.
