Deering, Inspector. Inspector Deering was created by “Simon,” the pseudonym of Roger d’Este Burford and Oswell Blakeston, and appeared in Murder Among Friends (1933), Death on the Swim (1934), and The Cat with the Moustache (1935).

Inspector Deering works for Scotland Yard. He is genial and has a knack for ingratiating himself with suspects. He has small, dark, twinkling eyes and reminds one person of “a tom cat with a nice furry soul.” His sense of humor is elephantine.
