Daunt, Abel. Abel Daunt appeared in a number of stories in Firefly and Merry and Bright from 1912 to 1916.

Adam Daunt is killed on a case and leaves his nephew Abel Daunt all of his wealth. Abel takes over his uncle’s detective business. Abel is twenty-five years old and had been a student in Paris when his uncle died. Able has intellect and will, and is helped by the resources of his uncle’s fabulously wealthy and appointed mansion in London as well as by the youthful Jack Rodney and by Itoya, the Daunts’ family servant and an expert at jujitsu. Daunt’s Lestrade is Inspector Stornton of the Yard.
