Danger Merchants. The Danger Merchants appeared in a number of stories in The Startler in 1930 and 1931, beginning with “A Near Thing!” (The Startler, Sept. 27, 1930).

The Danger Merchants are Jack Bryant, “six-feet of steely muscle,” and Roy Blake, a two-fisted four-foot-six. Together they fight crime as the Danger Merchants, “ready to tackle anything which spelled danger. Small crooks were put out of business at so many a dozen, while bigger stuff like international gangs were specially quoted for.” They also encounter giant octopi and crabs. The Danger Merchants are particularly tough while flying their armed seaplane, the Wobbler.
