Dalton, Joe. Joe Dalton was created by R.D. Emmet and appeared in the story serial “Trapped in Treasure Valley” (Happy Days, Mar 21-Apr 11, 1908).

Joe Dalton is a young American who travels to Mexico to investigate the murder of his uncle Henry. Dalton and his uncle’s friend Clem travel into the mountains and discover Treasure Valley, which has not just gold but a Lost Race of Aztecs. Princess Zandra of the Aztecs is due to be married and is being pressured to choose a husband, so when she sees Dalton she chooses him. The other Aztecs are not happy about this, and eventually a civil war breaks out. Dalton and Zandra win and leave the valley, although she remains queen of the Aztecs.
