Czech Legionnaires. The Czech Legionnaires were created by the Czech author Josef Kopta and appeared in Treti rota na magistrále (1927), Jak vznikala Treti rota (1929), and Treti rota doma (1934).

The “Czech Legion” was the name given to the foreign volunteer units of Czechs and Slovaks who fought against the Austria-Hungarian Empire and the Central Powers during World War One. In the three novels by Kopta the Czech Legionnaires fight their way across Siberia and eventually make it home after the war ends, but unfortunately their homeland, now the separate country of Czechoslovakia, is not what they had hoped for.
