Curly. Curly was created by Emerson Hough (Young Alaskans) and appeared in twelve short stories in The Popular Magazine and Western Story Magazine from 1912 to 1923, beginning with “Getting Back on the Soil” (The Popular Magazine, Oct. 15, 1912).

Curly is a Tall Tale Teller. In the decades after the American Civil War Curly, a ranch hand in Wyoming, tells a series of adventurous but unlikely stories to his friends, including his sidekick Sir Algernon.
