Crow, Anderson. Anderson Crow was created by George Barr McCutcheon and appeared in two story serials, later published as short story collections, from 1904 to 1919, beginning with “Anderson Crow, Detective” (The Saturday Evening Post, Apr. 16, 1904).
Anderson Crow is marshal, fire chief, and street commissioner of the rural town of Tinkletown, New York. Crow is 49 years old and crotchety, but vigorous when a crime is committed in Tinkletown, whether by out-of-town robbers who use a fire to cover their nefarious deeds or by the sinister Germans of Tinkletown, who are of course up to no good.
