Crisp, Alphabet. Alphabet Crisp was created by F.A.M. Webster (Max Cramer, Lawrie Fenton, Husky Hillier, Bruce Logan, Old Ebbie, Peter Pirow) and appeared in three stories in The Shadow Detective Monthly in 1932 and 1933, beginning with “Too Simple” (The Shadow Detective Monthly, Sept. 1932).
A.B. Crisp, "whose initials had prompted his fellow members at headquarters to title him 'Alphabet,'" is a Bellem. He is a N.Y.P.D. detective.
