Crim, Major. Major Crim was created by Dwight Marfield (Gail McGurk, Inspector Skane) and appeared in The Mystery of King Cobra (1933) and Ghost on the Balcony (1939).
Kerry Crim is a World War One veteran, a former Secret Service agent (“don’t ask me which nation–perhaps with more than one”), and a wandering adventurer who travels to see D.A. Dudley Brent on the recommendation of Gail McGurk. Crim goes on to solve murder cases in New York City, one involving a Thug. Crim is close shaven but for a Charlie Chaplin mustache, has reddish brown hair, is cheerful in manner, and has “an extremely mobile face that could be cold and dry as parchment or as warm as flaming youth.”
