Craleigh, Phil. Phil Craleigh was created by Earl W. Scott (Cameo Kirby, Hammerlock Wilson) and appeared in six stories in Black Mask from 1929 to 1932, beginning with “Brewed at Benetti’s” (Black Mask, Feb. 1929).

Phil Craleigh used to be a lawyer, and a brilliant and successful one, but his drinking ruined his career, and now he’s reduced to an alcoholic, hard-boiled private detective trying to reform himself.
