Corrigan. Corrigan was created by Henry C. Rowland (Frank Clamart) and appeared in three stories in The Popular Magazine and Sea Stories from 1912 to 1923, beginning with “Corrigan the Tempered” (The Popular Magazine, Oct. 1, 1912).
Corrigan is a South Seas Adventurer. Corrigan is married to a beautiful Spanish woman and despite being a sailor is active on land as often as he is at sea. He is a “cartoonist’s idea of a barkeep of a pugilist,” being short, broad, hunched, with strong, big-boned wrists and hands, and a face which showed hard usage. He has gray eyes and a “bulldog tenacity.”
