Collier, King. King Collier was created by William Corcoran and appeared in a number of stories in Short Stories, beginning with “Texas Trouble” (Short Stories, June 25, 1930).
King Collier is a cattle rancher in western Kansas. He and his partner “Pecos” Parrish have a small but growing herd of stock. Unfortunately, Texans keep bringing their cattle through Kansas, and now these cattle are infected with “Texas fever,” which threatens Collier’s stock. Collier is twenty-five, broad of shoulder, narrow of hip, with slender lips and a wry smile.
